Gigapixel Image
Someone named Max Lyons is going around creating gigapixel images of places. He has just put together a 42,970×24,940 pixel image of The National Building Museum, in Washington, D.C. … here’s a smaller 576×334 pixel version of that image with just a tiny bit of loss of resolution:

And, no, he does not have some unannounced gigapixel camera. The original of the image above was stitched together from 236 individual photographs taken with a 6 megapixel digital camera. Max’s website is here.
