Photosystem I
The Photosystem I is the world’s first solid-state photosynthetic solar cell.

Aka the Spinach Chip, the device generates electricity based on the principles of photosynthesis. This represents the first successful integration of a photosynthetic protein molecular complex with a solid-state electronic device. The prototype currently operates at 12% efficiency; researchers at MIT are hoping to up that to 20%. It might power laptops and cell phones one day .
