Seagate has announced a 5GB USB-connected portable HDD that competes with those ubiqitous flash memory cards.

The device is 3in in diameter and includes a retractable USB cable. The drive operates at 3,600-rpm with a 2MB cache.

The new Apple iPod Photo has a color screen, supports both music and photos and comes in 40GB or 60GB models.
