Special Theory of Relativity (re) Confirmed
Einstein published his Special Theory of Relativity in 1905. One hundred years later, the UN has declared “The World Year of Physics 2005” in order to honor the work of Albert Einstein.
As part of this centenary, some researchers at MIT have re-tested the most celebrated prediction of Special Relativity, namely that E = mc2 . Those researchers have confirmed the famous equation to an accuracy of 0.0000004, which is 55 times better than previous tests.
Their work has just been published in the journal Nature.
