the Boltzmann Rubber Duckie
Ludwig Boltzmann, that famous 19th century entropist and statistical mechanic extraordinaire, predicts the existence of large numbers of free-floating rubber ducks to be found throughout the universe.
Say Whaaaaaat!?! … it’s actually worse than that! Based partly on Boltzmann’s work, some bona-fide cosmologists argue that quantum gravity fluctuations in regions of space with high entropy will eventually cause macroscopic objects to appear, including self-aware brains…eponymed as Boltzmann brains. Furthermore these free-floating brains will be rare but in the fullness of time, every object will appear an infinite number of times. Hard to believe, but even harder to argue against…see article below…
