Canon’s flagship EOS 1Ds Mark III 21.1-megapixel, full-frame, Digital SLR camera was announced back in August 2007, and was recently reviewed by Photo.net.

The review begins with and poses the dilemma of whether or not one would be willing to part with $7,999 to obtain a EOS-1Ds body and tolerate the 1385gr (3.1lb) weight (before any lenses), in order to be able to produce ‘the best quality images of any handheld digital camera on the market’.

After a comprehensive review of 5261 words, the author concludes by saying that the while 1Ds is indeed a remarkable/desirable camera and produces “world’s best image quality”, he deems it a bit too industrial-strength…he’s waiting for the cheaper and lighter Canon EOS 5D.
