iPod vs 2nd Gen Zune

Second-generation Zune launch November 13 2007 - ...would you buy an MP3 player from these characters? The second generation of Zune digital music players arrived back in November 2007, courtesy of Microsoft. The new Zunes come in 80GB 30GB 8GB and 4GB varieties, a number of colors, with customization and accessories. New features include automatic sync, improved sharing and recorded TV to go.

In case you’ve wondered how the 2G Zunes stack up to the current crop of iPods from Apple, Forbes Magazine has a few observations.

In a recent article, Forbes says that Microsoft is playing the underdog card by suggesting that rival iPod is old-school old-guard and old-hat, and that cool people would not be seen with their parents’ music players. So is it working? …the article implies that the new models are indeed getting more favorable attention, but that Microsoft has a ways to go in order to catch up to Apple.

And, in a related but much more detailed full-blown review entitled ” iPod vs. Zune: January 2008 High End MP3 Player Roundup ” by AnandTech, they come down in favor of Apple. For audio AnandTech much prefers the iPod Classic over the Touch, but for video, they says that the Touch edges out the Zune, with the iPod Classic coming in 3rd.
